Controversy

During his tenure as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Patil's constituents alleged that he did not spend any time in his constituency and only spent 70% of his MPLADS funds. Mr. Patil defended himself by saying that due to being an MP he had to spend time in Delhi when the parliament was in session and that he had spent 100% of his MPLADS funds. It was proven later that he had indeed spent 100% of the funds and hence the accusations were baseless.

Sanjay Dina Patil has been accused of pointing his licensed revolver at a group of NCP party workers during a rally. He claims it was self-defense as the workers being supporters of his rival Nawab Malik were trying to attack him and his bodyguard with swords.

Sanjay Dina Patil was allegedly threatened by the infamous gangster, Chota Rajan in early 2015. A complaint was registered at the Bhandup Police Station regarding the same.
