Career
Ravindra Waikar is member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing Jogeshwari East Assembly Constituency. He has been recognised as:

Ravindra Waikar wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis demanding to withdraw the permissions given to five self-financed private universities. The reasons cited for the same were that the said universities had violated the government-prescribed rules and regulations. Ravindra Waikar has demanded a high-level inquiry to investigate the allegations against these universities.

Controversy
Last year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Ravindra Waikar for allegedly usurping a government land at Aarey Milk Colony, misleading the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and obtaining permission fraudulently between January and July 2021 to construct a luxury hotel on a plot along Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road earmarked for sports and entertainment purposes.
About the incident Waikar told a Marathi publication- “After being falsely implicated, I was left with only two options, either to go to jail or switch parties… It was with a heavy heart that I switched sides… when my wife’s name was also included (in this case), I had no choice left…”
