Career

Ashish Shelar has contributed to the development policy in Bandra Kurla Complex zone (BKC) and was elected to the Mumbai Metro regional planning commission. He was later promoted to the Governor of Mumbai Metro heritage society by the MMRDA. He is currently the President of the BJYM for Mumbai. He is the BMC Corporator, BJP Group leader in BMC and was also the Chairman of Mumbai Improvement Committee. Ashish Shelar is the former President of BJP in Mumbai.

Controversy

A youtuber was detained for uploading a video criticising Ashish Shelar and the BJP. This resulted in the sessions court ordering his release on the grounds that the arrest was politically motivated. When asked about the police action on Kanojia, Ashish Shelar said, “I don’t want to comment on it as I was unaware when it was registered. Let the law take its own course.”
