Controversy
Mangesh Sangle was accused of molesting a 19 year old girl in 2019. The incident had occurred on October 16, 2018. The victim and the accused stayed in the same building and were family friends. The victim’s family had been facing some issues which they used to discuss with Mr. Sangle for guidance. On the day of the incident, the victim and her elder sister were discussing the issues with Mr. Sangle when he asked them to leave as it was getting late. Later, Mr. Sangle called the younger girl and asked her to meet him again as he had to tell her something important. Mangesh Sangle called the girl to his office on the pretext of discussion. “The accused tried to touch her inappropriately. She protested and left the place. Since her family was already undergoing a ‘bad phase’, and also her exams were approaching, she did not tell them anything. Later, she discussed the incident with a friend during a picnic and as per the friend’s advice, she approached the women’s cell and submitted a written application on December 5.” Mangesh Sangle had also apparently messaged the girl apologising as he was afraid she would tell somebody.
