Controversy

Rumors of alleged rifts in the MNS started circulating in 2018 when during a protest Bala Nandgaonkar and senior leader Mr. Deshpande had an apparent spat. It was alleged that Mr. Deshpande was raising his voice while talking to BMC officials. Mr. Nandgaonkar asked him to lower his voice at which point Mr. Deshpande stormed off. Mr. Deshpande has denied any rifts exist or any incidents took place.

In Febuary 2019 the Mumbai police loged a complaint seeking to extern Bala Nandgaonkar’s brother Nitin Nandgaonkar from Mumbai and Thane for two years citing the fact that he has been accused of taking the law into his own hands, practicing vigilante justice and threatning any victims of his to prevent them from approaching the police.
